By default, when you turn on contour fills on a contour map, the colors will range from black at the low values to white at the high values. You can, of course, go to the contour map properties to change the colors, but if you always want the default to be a different set of colors, follow these steps:
Surfer 9 and 10
- Go to Tools | Options.
- Select Advanced from the list on the left.
- Select Map Contour | cFillFgCLR from the list on the right.
- For the Setting value type in the file path to the CLR file you wish to use. For example: c:\temp\test.clr
- Set the Setting persistence value you want. For example, set the Setting Persistence to Always reset if you want this default setting every time you create a contour map.
- Click OK and save the changes.
Surfer 8
- Go to File | Preferences and then to the Dialog Defaults tab.
- Scroll down to the Map Contour settings and click on the plus sign to expand that section.
- Scroll down and click on the cFillFgClr setting
- Change the Setting Value to the path of the .CLR file that you want as the default. For example: c:\temp\test.clr
- Change the Setting Persistence to Always reset if you want this default setting every time you create a contour map.
- Click OK.
- When prompted to write the results to the surfer.set file, click OK.
To return Surfer to the original default, follow the same steps but clear out the file name from the Setting value field.
