When you install MapViewer, a small subset of the boundary files and data that are included are loaded into the Samples folder under where MapViewer is installed (normally C:\Program Files\Golden Software\MapViewer 7\).
There are many more boundary files on the first MapViewer CD that are not copied to your hard drive during installation. You can use these files directly from the Boundaries folder on the CD, or you can copy this folder to your hard drive, if you wish.
If you chose the download option when purchasing MapViewer, you only received the files that go in the Samples folder. The additional boundary files can be downloaded separately from our web site at http://www.goldensoftware.com/boundary.shtml .
Since MapViewer supports several commonly-used formats for geographic data, you are not limited to only using the files that are included. There are many sources on the Internet where you can download additional boundary and data files. Try a search on Google with terms such as
download gis data +location
For example, if you want maps and data for Illinois, try searching for
download gis data +illinois
