First, use Map | Base Map to make a base map of all of the counties of the state.  There are boundary files for the counties of each state in the Samples folder under where MapViewer is installed (normally C:\Program Files\Golden Software\MapViewer 6\).  There are also higher resolution county files for each state on the first MapViewer CD, or they can be downloaded from our web site at http://www.goldensoftware.com/boundary.shtml . Now, you should see all the counties of the state.

Select the county you want.  You can do this by clicking on it in the map or in the Object Manager.  You can also select it by typing it's name in the Search by ID box in the toolbar and hitting return.

With your single county selected, go to File | Export to export just it to a new boundary file.  In the Export dialog:
1) Set the Save in folder to where you want to save the file.
2) Set the Save as type to GSB - Golden Software Boundary (.gsb)
3) Set the File name to whatever you want.
4) Check the box at the lower left corner of the Export dialog that says Selected objects only so that only the one selected county is exported.

5) Click Save

Use File | Close to close the map with all of the counties.  You do not need to save the changes.

Use File | New to create a new map and then Map | Base Map to bring in the boundary file of the single county that you previously exported.
