| My hatch map legend shows data ranges, like 1-2, 2-3. Can I have text displayed there instead? |

Yes, you can have other text shown in the legend rather than the class data ranges.
First go to the Hatch Map dialog using Map | Map Properties. In the list of classes at the bottom, note that there is a Name column. By default, the class names are Class 1, Class 2, etc. Change these names to the text you want to appear in the legend and click OK.
Now open up the Top-Level Legend dialog and check the box to Show class name instead of data value and click OK. The legend will now show the class names you assigned rather than the data ranges.
