When X and Y data cover different ranges, the default scale displays the map as a single axis or line.

You can change the scale of the map to expand the map in the thin direction. To change the scale of the map, it depends on the version of Surfer you are using.
Surfer 10
- Select Map in the Object Manager.
- In the Property Manager, go to the Scale tab.
- Uncheck Proportional XY Scaling if you want the X and Y scales to be different.
-
Specify the Scale or Length of the X and Y directions.
Surfer 9
- Double-click on Map in the Object Manager to open the Map Properties dialog.
-
Go to the Scale tab.
-
Uncheck Proportional XY Scaling if you want the X and Y scales to be different.
-
Specify the Scale or Length of the X and Y directions.
-
Click OK.
Surfer 8 and previous
- Double-click any of the map layers in the Object Manager to display the properties dialog box for that map type.
- Go to the Scale tab.
- Uncheck Proportional XY Scaling if you want the X and Y scales to be different.
- Specify the Scale or Length of the X and Y directions.
- Click OK.
