You can differentiate between different kinds of points a couple different ways:
1. You can separate the different classes in your original data file and import them separately with different symbols
2. You can use Criteria Select. After the data points are imported, go to Edit | Criteria Select. Select all points with an ID value of, for example, "Type 1" (or you can choose a range of numeric values). Once the points are selected, right-click in the Plot Window and go to Properties. Change the symbol size, color, or shape and click OK. Then go back to Edit | Criteria Select and repeat for all the types of points you have.
