There is a known conflict between Surfer 8 and PCAnywhere. If you double click the Surfer icon, go to Start | Programs | Golden Software Surfer 8 | Surfer 8, or if you navigate to the installation directory and double click on the Surfer.exe file and the program will not open (nothing happens), check to see if you are running PCAnywhere or any other remote desktop application. If you are, please close and exit PCAnywhere or the other application and then try again to start Surfer.
If you are not running PCAnywhere, there could be a conflict with another software application running on your computer. Please close all other applications (including ones in the system tray such as messenger programs, antivirus software, etc) and as many processes as possible prior to starting Surfer. If that works, you may be able to find the program causing the conflict by adding programs and processes one at a time and running Surfer with each change. If you find a software conflict, please report it to surfersupport@goldensoftware.com.
