Q. I have a problem with making contour maps that contain faults. I get a contour map with a blanked area around my fault line and the contour lines do not end at the fault, but a bit next to it. How can I solve the problem that the area around the fault is not shown as a blanked area? The fault should just be displayed as a line or curved line, at that the contour lines end.
A. Surfer blanks the grid cell when a fault BLN line crosses the cell, therefore the grid cells around the fault line will be blanked. To minimize the blanked area around the fault lines, regrid the data with smaller grid cells (more grid lines). You can also increase the width of the fault line to cover some of the blanked area.
