In Strater, to get a scale of 1" = 500" (1:500), all you need to do is set the Standard Scale 1 property for the borehole view. Click View | View Properties (View | Borehole View Properties in Strater 2), and in the Property Manager set the Standard Scale 1 to 500. If this option is grayed out, set Auto-recalculate Scale to False, and then set the standard scale.

In Strater 1, this was not an option and so you need to calculate how many data units is 500" to set the scaling depth per inch.

If your data is in units of feet, then you can find out how many feet 500"
is:
     500" divided by 12"/ft = 41.67 feet
So you would want to enter a Scaling Depth Per Inch of 41.67.

If your data is in units of meters, then:
     500 times 2.54cm/" divided by 100cm/m = 12.7 m
So you would want to enter a Scaling Depth Per Inch of 12.7.
