To get a scale of 1"=500" (1:500), you need to find out how many of your data units equals 500".
If your data is in units of feet, then you can find out how many feet 500" is: 500" divided by 12"/ft = 41.67 feet So you would want to enter a Scaling Depth Per Inch of 41.67.
If your data is in units of meters, then: 500 times 2.54cm/" divided by 100cm/m = 12.7 m So you would want to enter a Scaling Depth Per Inch of 12.7.
