To smooth contours, select the Contours layer in the Object Manager. In the Property Manager, on the General tab, set the Smoothing value to something other than None. You can try Medium or High smoothing.
In some cases smoothing contours via the contour properties can cause some contours to touch or cross. To resolve the problem, you can: 1. Grid the data with twice as many grid lines for a smoother result. 2. Smooth the grid file using Grid | Spline Smooth. 3. Smooth the grid file using Grid | Filter, and choosing a low-pass filter.
Then once you have a new grid file, substitute the new GRD file in the contour map, or create a new contour map from the new GRD file.
