Creating a 3D surface map without colors may be useful when draping an image base map over a 3D surface and
you want to see the image in 3D with the shading, but not with
additional colors. To do this:
- Create the 3D surface map by going to Map | New | 3D Surface, selecting your grid file and clicking Open.
- Add any other map layers you choose by going to Map | Add.
- Select the 3D Surface layer in the Object Manager.
- In the Property Manager, go to the Overlays tab make sure the Color Modulation is set to Blend overlay and surface colors.
- Go to the General tab
- Under Material Color, click the button to the right of Upper.
- Click the Custom button at the bottom of the drop down list.
- In the Colormap dialog, create an all white spectrum. To do this, you can load the attached CLR file, or select the GrayScale preset (at the top of the list), select the left color node on the color spectrum, and choose the White color from the Color drop down list.
- Once you have an all white spectrum, click OK.
