To create a shaded overlay, displaying the colors of the overlay with the shading of the 3D surface map, follow the steps below. This may be useful when draping an image base map over a 3D surface and you want to see the image in 3D with the shading, but not with additional colors.
- Overlay the 3D surface map and any other map layers you choose.
- Select the 3D Surface layer in the Object Manager.
- In the Property Manager, go to the Overlays tab make sure the Color Modulation is set to Blend overlay and surface colors.
- Go to the General tab
- Under Material Color, click the button to the right of Upper.
- Click the Custom button at the bottom of the drop down list.
- In the Colormap dialog, create an all white spectrum. To do this, you can load the attached CLR file, or select the GrayScale preset (at the top of the list), select the left color node on the color spectrum, and choose the White color from the Color drop down list.
- Once you have an all white spectrum, click OK.
