The Data Metrics Terrain Slope gridding option calculates the local slope using the specified search parameters. The default search for small data files uses the entire data set, and so is averaged to the same slope value. Reduce the search radii for more meaningful results and variation in the slope.

To do this:
  1. Go to Grid | Data.
  2. In the Open dialog, select a data file and then click Open.
  3. In the Grid Data dialog, choose Data Metrics as the Gridding Method.
  4. Click the Advanced Options button to display the Data Metrics Advanced Options dialog.
  5. On the General page, select Terrain Statistics | Terrain Slope.
  6. On the Search page, uncheck the No Search check box and specify Radius 1 and Radius 2 values.
  7. The Breaklines and Faults page is used to add breaklines and faults to the gridding process.
  8. Click OK in the Data Metrics Advanced Options dialog to return to the Grid Data dialog.
  9. Click OK in the Grid Data dialog, and a grid file is produced using the Data Metrics gridding method with the specified options.
