Surfer ignores any text strings (non-numeric
values) when gridding and when performing Data | Transform in the
worksheet.
Any of the following can be used:
"-9999", N/A, "no data", x99
-
In a text editor, program, or script, add
quotes around a number to designate it as a text string. "-9999"
- In the
worksheet, insert a single quote (apostrophe) at the beginning of the
number to convert it to text. '-9999
Quotes around a text string with
spaces ensure that the entire string is read as a single item. A mix
of numbers and text without spaces is read as a text string.
