Surfer 9 You do not need to do anything special to import a georeferenced image file. Go to Map | New | Base Map, select the TIF file and click Open. If the image is georeferenced, it will import in the correct map coordinates.
To export a TIF/TFW file from Surfer 9, you can simply:
1. Go to File | Export. 2. Choose to export it as a TIF file and click Save. 3. In the Export Options dialog, go to the Spatial References tab. 4. Choose the radio button next to Save spatial reference information in and check the ESRI World file check box. 5. Click OK and the TIF/TFW file is exported.
Surfer 8 To import a TIF with a TFW file:
- Download the script TifTfwLf.bas from our web site.
- Open the Scripter program that comes with Surfer.
- In Scripter, go to File | Open and open the TifTfwLf.bas file.
- Go to Script | Run.
- You'll be prompted for the image or world file name. Select the image file (TIF, JPG, etc) or the world file (TFW, JGW, etc) and click Open. The script will automatically open Surfer and load the image file as a base map using the coordinates from the world file.
- You can either continue working in this window, or you can copy and paste this map into any existing SRF file.
