Access to (file path).srf denied Module Surfer, File c:\gs\Surfer8\ERROR.CPP, Line 690
The "Access denied" error occurs when attempting to save a file on a network drive when the network is using aggressive file locking. Novell has documented this problem with older versions when saving Excel files, and has released a patch to resolve the problem. Other network operating systems may show the same error. Contact your network administrator or network vendor for information on changing the file locking setting.
- One way to work around the problem is to enable the Surfer option to save a backup copy of the SRF file with the File | Preferences (Surfer 8 and previous) or Tools | Options (Surfer 9 and higher). Click on the General tab, and check the check box for the option to Backup files before saving.
Choose File | Preferences or Tools | Options, click on the General tab, and add a check mark to select the Backup files before saving option.
Other methods include:
- Save the file to a different file name on the network.
- Save to the local hard drive.
