Q: When I try to use the NAD 1927 - Canada (NTV2) Datum, I get the message: "Unable to open NTV2 grid shift file. NTV2 datum conversions cannot be performed unless an NTV2 grid shift file is installed in the same folder/directory as this software". Does Golden Software have this grid shift file?
A: NTV2 datum conversions cannot be performed unless an NTV2 grid shift file is
installed in the same folder/directory as the software. If you receive this
message in response to your request to change the datum of a plot document or
other drawing in the application program, it generally indicates that the grid
shift file is missing or has not been properly installed. The NTV2 grid shift
file is typically provided to companies or individuals by a government agency
and is not distributed as part of Golden Software's installation package.

NTV2 is the Canadian government's officially sanctioned method of
converting Canadian map data from the old NAD27 datum to the NAD83
datum. NTV2 is based on a hierarchical database of interpolation grids
of different resolutions for different regions of the country.
