You can save different default settings to different file names and open each file in the File | Preferences | Dialog Defaults (Surfer 8 and previous) or Tools | Options | Advanced (Surfer 9 and 10).
The location for the surfer.set file depends on your Operating System. Please see: http://www.goldensoftware.com/activekb/questions/724
To load different SET files:
- Locate the surfer.set file.
- Copy the surfer.set file to a new file name (i.e. surfer_original.set).
- Open Surfer and make the desired changes to the defaults under File | Preferences | Dialog Defaults (Surfer 8 and previous) or Tools | Options | Advanced (Surfer 9 and 10).
- Click OK and save changes to the surfer.set file.
- Copy the surfer.set file to a new name (i.e. project_1.set).
- Load an existing SET file (i.e. project_1.set) by clicking the yellow folder to the right of the Current Setting File name on the Dialog Defaults tab in the Preferences dialog box (Surfer 8), or the Advanced section in the Options dialog box (Surfer 9 and 10).
You can also load it on the command line or include this information in the Surfer icon/shortcut. This will start Surfer with the specified SET file. For example: "C:\Program Files\Golden Software\Surfer8\surfer.exe" /set "C:\Tom\project_1.set"
where C:\Tom\ is the directory the SET file is located in. Change this to the actual directory that you use for the SET file you wish to load.
