Sometimes, Windows printers will leave occasional lines out of a print.  This is common with PDF printer drivers and with post script printers.

Surfer does contain a work around for the problems with these printer drivers.  There are several settings that you can change in the configuration settings files (surfer.ini for Surfer 8, and GsDraw.ini for Surfer 9). One of these is described below.

If using Surfer 8, open the file surfer.ini in NotePad or WordPad. For Surfer version 8.09, under Windows Vista, the surfer.ini file is located in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Golden Software\Surfer\8. For all other Operating Systems, the surfer.ini file is located in the Surfer installation directory.

If using Surfer 9, open the GsDraw.ini file located in the Surfer 9 installation directory.

Once the INI file is opened, locate the DecomposePrinterPolygons item. Remove the semi-colon from the DecomposePrinterPolygons and change the value to zero. The line should look like this:
DecomposePrinterPolygons=0

Save and close the INI file. You might consider reopening it just to be sure the changes have taken effect. Then, restart Surfer. When you print, the lines should be correct.

If that doesn't work, you can try a different printer driver. For example, you can try Adobe Acrobat 8 or the free version of CutePDF. If you are using Surfer 9, you can also try using File | Export and exporting to a vector PDF (although the Export option does not support transparency) or a raster PDF.
