Q: Some of my DEM files have elevation data in units of meters, and others have elevation data in units of feet. How can I convert the Z units of one to match the other so that the DEMs match up?
A: You can convert the Z values of meters to feet (or feet to
meters) for a grid file using Grid Math.
To do this: 1. Go to Grid | Math. 2. Select the DEM or grid file you wish to convert and click Open. 3. In the Grid Math dialog, enter the function with the conversion factor. For converting feet to meters, use C=A/3.28083. For converting meters to feet, use C=A*3.28083. 4. Click OK and the new grid file is created.
