To specify the State Plane 1983 coordinate system in units of Feet for your data in the worksheet, follow these steps:
1. In the Surfer 9 worksheet, go to Data | New Projected Coordinates.
2. In the New Projected Coordinates dialog, click the (...) button for either the Source Coordinate System or the Target Coordinate System.
3. In the Assign Projection dialog, open Projected Systems | State Plane | 1983 and select your appropriate system.
4. After you selected the system (which is in meters), click the New button.
5. In the Define Coordiante System dialog, under the Projection side, change the Linear Units | Name to Feet and click OK.
