Q. I import an image as a base map, click on the image to select it and set the coordinates for the spatial extents for the image, but then the image disappears. Why?
A. When you load a non-georeferenced base map, it automatically uses the pixel number as the XY coordinates. To reset the image base map coordinates to real world coordinates, select Base in the Object Manager (not Image under Base). In the Property Manager, on the Base Map tab, under the Image Coordinates section, enter in the correct xMin, xMax, yMin and yMax values.
Select Base in the Object Manager to open the Map: Base properties in the Property Manager.
If you selected Image instead of the Base in the Object Manager, the Map: Base: Image properties would open in the Property Manager. Here, you can set the Spatial Extents of the image, but that just changes the image extents within the base map. It does not change the base map extents. If you want to change the coordinates for the base map itself, you do this in the Map: Base properties.
