If you want the XYZ coordinates of the contour lines, you can do this easily in Surfer 10 by selecting the map and going to Map | Export Contours. Choose to save the data in Text format (*.TXT) and click Save. The TXT file has the XYZ coordinates of the contour lines.
If you are using Surfer 9 or previous, I suggest you select the contour map and go to Map | Export Contours and export the contours to a 3D DXF file. Then you can use the free utility DXF2XYZ to convert the 3D DXF file to an XYZ data file.
To get the XYZ coordinates for the grid nodes in the grid file (not the contours):
- Go to Grid | Convert
- Select the grid file and click Open.
- Choose to save the grid as an DAT XYZ (*.DAT) file and click Save.
The result is a text file with the XYZ coordinates of all the grid nodes in the grid file.
