The Track Cursor command works in two different ways:

1.     It works between a post map and the data file opened in the worksheet. When Track Cursor is enabled, you can click on a post map and the closest point in the post map to where you clicked will be highlighted in the worksheet window.

2.     It works between maps in the same plot window. When Track Cursor is enabled, you can click on any map, and the same location will be marked on all the other maps in the plot window.

Notes when using Track Cursor with a post map:

1.     When you use View | Track Cursor to click on points on a post map, to get the nearest point in the worksheet document highlighted, you need to be sure the X and Y columns are assigned correctly in the worksheet. Go to the worksheet window and go to Data | Assign XYZ Columns. Make sure the X and Y columns are assigned correctly, to the same columns you used to create the post map, and click OK. Now go to the post map and use Track Cursor and click on a location on the post map. The nearest point to the location you clicked will be highlighted in the worksheet.

2.     If you have the plot and worksheet windows in a tiled view (ie. Window | Tile Vertical), then it makes editing of extraneous data points or other specific data points very easy.

Example:

1.     Create a post map in the plot window.

2.     Open your data file in the worksheet window.

3.     If your X and Y data columns are not columns A and B, use the Data | Assign XYZ Columns to assign the correct columns to your X and Y data.

4.     Go to Window | Tile Vertical to arrange the windows next to each other.

5.     Enable cursor tracking by going to View | Track Cursor.

6.     Click in the plot window near a point on the map, and that point is highlighted in the worksheet window.

7.     Click in the worksheet window and edit or delete the point.

8.     Then click back in the plot window near your next point.

9.     To update the map, go to File | Save in the worksheet window to save the changed data, and in the plot window go to File | Reload Map Data to update the map with the changes.
