| How can I disable the Surfer warning when I print about the output not fitting on the media? | |||||||||
Q: I created a map bigger than the
page size in Surfer. Every time I print, I am prompted with a warning saying
that the output does not fit on the selected media. I know this and want to
truncate my plot, but this warning is getting annoying. Can I turn it off? To
disable this warning in Surfer 10: 1. Under Windows XP, go to Start | Run, type in regedit and click Run. Under Windows Vista or 7, click the flying windows button (bottom left corner of the desktop), type in regedit and press Enter on the keyboard. This will open the Registry Editor. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Golden Software\Surfer\10\Settings. 3. Go to Edit | New | StringValue. 4. The New Value #1 value is created. 5. Change the name to WarnTruncate. 6. Double click on the WarnTruncate value. 7. Change the Value data to 0 and click OK (a 1 means to show the warning, a 0 means to not show the warning). 8. Go to File | Exit to exit the Registry Editor.9. Restart Surfer. Now
the warning will be disabled and the plot will simply be truncated to the paper
size specified by the printer driver. To change this back to the defaults, you
can either set the Value data to 1 (which is the default) or delete the WarnTruncate value in the registry. When you install any future update to Surfer 10, this added registry value should not be overwritten. It should remain as you created it. To
disable this warning in Surfer 9: 1. Under Windows 2000 or XP, go to Start | Run, type in regedit and click Run. Under Windows Vista or 7, click the flying windows button (bottom left corner of the desktop), type in regedit and press Enter on the keyboard. This will open the Registry Editor. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Golden Software\Surfer\9\Settings. 3. Go to Edit | New | DWORD (32-bit) Value. 4. The New Value #1 value is created. 5. Change the name to PrintOptions. 6. Double click on the PrintOptions value. 7. Change the Value data to 2 and click OK. 8. Go to File | Exit to exit the Registry Editor. 9. Restart Surfer. Now
the warning will be disabled and the plot will simply be truncated to the paper
size specified by the printer driver. To change this back to the defaults, you
can either set the Value data to 3 (which is the default) or delete the PrintOptions value in the registry. When you install any future update to Surfer 9, this added registry value should not be overwritten. It should remain as you created it. |
