Yes, Grapher 9 (the current version) will open graphs created in Grapher 2 and newer versions. We try very hard to maintain compatibility with files created in older versions. If you have an older GRF file that does not open in Grapher 9, please send it to graphersupport@goldensoftware.com and we will help you find a way to open the file.
Grapher 9 does not open Grapher DOS and Grapher for Windows version 1 files. If you have files from these older programs, send them to graphersupport@goldensoftware.com and we will convert them to the newer format for you.
In addition, Grapher 9 has the ability to save graphs so that slightly older versions (Grapher 5, 6, 7, or 8) can open the GRF file. Choose File | Save As in Grapher 9. Change the Save as type to one of the older GRF formats. This GRF file can then be opened in the older version.
