An Inside Look at Golden Software's Webinar History

In May of 2012, I had been working for Golden Software for 5 months and was starting to get the hang of my duties, when I was offered a new challenge; I was asked to spearhead efforts to get a monthly webinar started. As such a customer-centric company, this new endeavor made sense in many ways. Not only did it offer an additional way to get customers the support they needed, but it provided a new, interactive means of getting information to our customers and getting immediate feedback. I had never even attended a webinar, but I was ready to take on the challenge.

After a good deal of research, we were off and running. The more webinars we hosted, the more we learned about what topics our users responded to, when they wanted to view the webinars, and various other factors that went into the process, and the more I personally learned the ins-and-outs of the webinar process. As host, I schedule the webinars, send out webinar emails, start and end the webinar as well as field questions during the webinar, edit and post the webinar recording, and interact with users the whole way through. It's a rewarding experience.

Golden Software Gives Back to the Community

Last month I had the honor of receiving the Colorado School of Mines 2015 Young Philanthropist Award. During their annual Evening of Excellence, Mines celebrated those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer and philanthropic involvement in the university. The Young Philanthropist Award was one of eight philanthropy awards presented that evening. I must say, I was deeply honored to share the stage with such generous alumni and staff. And I also learned CSM’s newly elected president, Paul Johnson, was a Surfer user!

Colorado School of Mines President Paul Johnson, Golden Software CEO Blakelee (Midyett) Mills, and CSM Foundation Board of Governors Executive Committee Chairman and CEO David Wagner.

Why We Are Excited for the AAPG ACE 2015

Why We Are Excited for the AAPG ACE 2015

Approximately 8,500 geologists, geophysicists and engineers from around the world will gather in Denver this coming Sunday for the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Annual Convention and Exhibition. We will be exhibiting this year and wish we could talk to all of you. Sure, we want to show off our powerful and affordable data visualization software, but what we’re really excited about is what we will learn from you.

If you use our software, we want to learn how you use it and what features you like the most. We also want to know how we can improve our software to make your job easier, thereby allowing you to focus on more important tasks.  If you’re not a user, we’d like to know what software products you find beneficial and why.

All Hands Meeting 2015

All Hands Meeting 2015

This past weekend, the entire Golden Software team convened in beautiful Golden, Colorado for our annual all hands meeting (AHM). This was our 7th annual meeting, and like fine wine, it has improved with age; each year is better than the last!

Every year we meet all day Saturday and a half-day on Sunday. Our days consist of numerous presentations covering what we’ve accomplished over the past year, what our current endeavors entail, and where we’re headed in the coming years. We are always asking ourselves, “What’s best for the customer?” and the AHM gives us an opportunity to answer that question together. Our discussions are engaging as everyone contributes their thoughts and ideas. We can feel the energy increase as the meeting progresses.
