Scripter is a useful tool that is integrated into Surfer and allows you to automate repetitive tasks which you perform often. This can save time and ensure consistent properties or procedures are applied across many maps. Scripter is also available in Grapher and MapViewer.
Strater 4 is a fully customizable well log, borehole, and cross section plotting program with innumerable ways to graphically display your data. The program has an easy-to-use user interface that assists you in creating high-quality, professional representations of subsurface data in no time.
There is a very useful feature in Surfer that is often overlooked. When working with grid files, it is not uncommon to want to resize a grid so that the grid line geometry can match other grids that you are using in the same project.
According to Wikipedia, the summer of 2013 saw 11 major wildfires in Colorado. Now that the wildfire season is over, it’s time to take stock of what was lost. Using Didger 5’s Vectorize Image tool with individual fire maps from a variety of online resources (mainly Inciweb, Wikipedia, and coloradofiremaps.com), a Google Earth file of the extents of all 11 of fires was created, detailing each of the 147,000+ acres that were destroyed.
One of the most versatile new features of Didger 5 is the addition of more than 30 new file formats for import and export. For example, it's now possible to digitize information in Didger, export to Google Earth KML format, and then view the digitized information in Google Earth. Here is a complete list of the new file formats supported in Didger:
Another new feature of Didger 5 is an expanded projection library that supports more coordinate systems, projections, and datums than ever before. No more setting the projection/coordinate system for each file during the import process; now all files are re-projected on-the-fly and will seamlessly integrate with or match the current project's projection/coordinate system!
