Available Positions

 

Customer Support Engineer

 

Golden Software is currently seeking a full-time customer support engineer who will be responsible for supporting and promoting our graphing, mapping, and scientific software applications.

 

 

Duties:

  • Determine source of concern by interviewing customers on the telephone and via e-mail.
  • Educate customers by answering questions; interpreting operating instructions; providing references.
  • Determine source of error by reviewing procedures and actions taken by user; instructing user to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Resolve problems by issuing corrective instructions; consulting with coworkers.
  • Improve programs by notifying programmers of problems; making recommendations.
  • Improve operating references by writing revisions.
  • Evaluate software by testing ease of use and applicability.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS or BA degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Windows.
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently solve problems.

 

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with any Golden Software products.
  • Familiarity with programming/scripting.
  • Experience with other GIS and/or Geology software.

Programmer

 

Golden Software is seeking a full time, experienced, C++ programmer. Our current opening is for a software engineer to develop, enhance, and maintain 2D/3D scientific graphics applications in an MS Windows environment.

 

The prospective employee must be capable of software design, implementation, testing, progress reporting, and fixing any problems in their code.

 

Requirements:

  • Science degree or related work experience
  • Strong project management and software engineering skills
  • Strong object oriented analysis and design skills
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others in a small, geographically distributed team
  • Practical experience with C++, MFC or comparable UI framework
  • Experience in computer graphics programming
  • Commercial software development experience
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills

 

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Experience with OpenGL, Gdi+, Win32 API, COM, Visual Studio
  • Experience with scripting and cross-platform development
  • Knowledge of software development productivity tools including performance profilers, static code analyzers, leak detectors, source control systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with geosciences and GIS
