| This long-time Golden Software user has been using MapViewer 5, 6, and 7 to generate maps that display his personal travels over his lifetime to every county in the greater 48 states, plus Hawaii, and most of Alaska. The user generated a Hatch Map indicating his age when he visited a particular county. This phenomenon is known as County Collecting. The data was collected by the user for a period that encompasses over
68 years. He would describe the collection process as eclectic and ever evolving, with records coming from verbal accounts from his parents, magic marker on road maps, trip logs, and real time collection using a laptop. Over the past 12 years the user has compiled the records from these unique data collection processes into an Excel spreadsheet, which was used as the source data for the age-classified Hatch Map. |
