Q10. Is technical support free?
A. Yes, technical support is free to all users for as long as you own the product. You must register your product in order to receive technical support. You can reach technical support by phone, fax, or email.Q11. Does Grapher run under WindowsXP, Vista, and 7 using 32-bit and 64-bit versions?
A. Yes, Grapher 9 comes as a 32-bit application and as a 64-bit application. Both can be installed and run on Windows 64-bit.Q12. Should I install the Grapher 32-bit or Grapher 64-bit?
A. If you are using a 32-bit version of Windows, then you should install Grapher 9 32-bit.
If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, we recommend installing the 64-bit version of Grapher 9. Although Grapher 32-bit is capable of installing and running on Windows 64-bit, the 32-bit version of Grapher 9 does not take advantage of the increased 64-bit memory space.Q13. One of my manager windows has disappeared! What can I do to get it back?
A. Grapher 9 has a command that will reset manager windows to their default positions to address this issue. Choose View | Reset Windows. Click OK in the dialog prompting you to restart Grapher. Save any open Grapher files and choose File | Exit. When you reopen Grapher, all of the manager windows will be back in their default positions.Q14. Norton SONAR removes the Golden Software executable files as a security threat! I can’t install or run the software now. What is going on?
A. Norton AntiVirus, 360, Internet Security and other Norton products may remove and quarantine the Grapher, Surfer, Voxler and Strater installation (from CD) and application executable files as threats. Once this happens, they will no longer run. Our software does not contain viruses or other security threats. We are working with Norton so that they discontinue flagging our software as a potential security threat. In the meantime, if you are installing from the CD and encounter this problem, you can disable Norton, run the installation from the CD, and then re-enable Norton after the CD installation.
Once the software is installed (or if you install the software directly from the download EXE file), the first or second time you open the program, Norton might also quarantine the application EXE file (i.e. surfer.exe), preventing it from being used. You will need to restore the application EXE file from quarantine and then you can open and use the software.
Using Norton Internet Security, you can restore the application EXE file from quarantine by following these steps:
- Open Norton.
- Under the Computer section, click on the Quarantine link.
- In the Security History dialog, select where it says surfer.exe was quarantined, then click on the blue Options link in the upper right of the dialog.
- Click on Restore this file.
- Click Yes to restore the file.
- Close Norton and run the software.
If you are using Norton 360, another customer says to do this:
- Open Norton 360 by right clicking at the bottom right Norton icon.
- Click Tasks at the center top of the page.
- Click View Security History in left column.
- Identify and click on the quarantined surfer.exe file.
- On the same page click on the Recommended Action box of options.
- Click Yes to restore the surfer.exe program to its original location.
- Click Close and restart computer
To help improve this for the future, we ask that you please report this false positive to Symantec (Norton). To do this, you can use Norton’s built in “Submit to Symantec” feature. In most Norton products, this is done automatically by default. If you have turned the automatic submission off, you can submit this to Symantec manually by entering quarantine view, selecting the item, clicking on More Details and choosing Submit to Symantec.
Thank you for your patience.
Q15. I have a more technical question about the program, where can I find the answer?
A. For more technical questions and answers, please visit our Knowledge Base.

64-bit Installation
The 64 bit version succeeded in loading the 55 million rowsKim Frankcombe, Explore, Australia
Work with all of your large data sets and images without the worry of running out of memory!

This graph creates a classed scatter plot from more than 1 million data points quickly.
Move Any Label
I think besides 64 bit support this is the best new feature. Now it is really easy to make cleaner axis labeling if desired and moving tick labels and axis-title labels works like a charm... Kurt Trinko, Austria
Quickly and easily remove overlapping labels! Grapher has long allowed you to click and drag plot labels. Now, you can click and drag axis labels, axis titles, or graph titles to new locations using the Move Labels command. Simply click on the object, select the command, and drag labels to anywhere you need.

Click the Move Labels command to click and drag labels to any location on the graph.
Lines connect the axis location to the moved label.
Ultimate Data Compatibility
Grapher is a fabulous tool for creating presentation-quality software. It is almost infinitely flexible and is not constrained by some of the limitations that hamper my use of other graphing programs. David Suder, Precise Environmental Consulting, USA
Import and export in all popular formats! New import formats include Access 2007 ACCDB file format. In addition, import your database information from tables or from queries.

Create any graph directly from your query in your Access database.
Bar Chart Clipping
I value every data point I use and think it deserves a decent frame. While allowing a user to produce a variety of plots in a quick and effective manner, Grapher also offers a full control over every smallest detail of these plots. Igor Yashayaev, Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Canada
Line/scatter plots and bar charts can be clipped using the options on the Clipping tab. Draw line/scatter or bar charts to the clipping value or remove values outside the plot range.

The same data displayed without clipping, with clipped bars
removed, and with clipped bars drawn to the clipping limit.
Fit Curves and Confidence Plot Clipping
This is a very useful feature. Jakob Schwander, University of Bern, Switzerland
Fit curves and confidence intervals can be clipped using the options on the Clipping tab.

Use clipping, as in the plot on the right, to confine fit curves
and confidence intervals only to certain areas on the graph.
Improved Axis Date/Time
| I think that the product is moving in the right direction with each version there are improvements. David Orr, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Canada Format all labels on your date/time axes with date/time labels. Specify different formats for your major and minor tick marks. Set label format, tick mark divisions, and other tick mark and label formats with date/time information for both major and minor tick marks. |

Enhanced Class Scatter Plot Legend
Report quality graphs it does very well. Anthony Miller, RPS Energy, United Kingdom
Change the text for each item in the class scatter plot legend to make your graph easier to understand. Include the range of values in the class, the class name or explanatory text, or link text from a worksheet to the legend.
Change the symbol size displayed in a class scatter plot legend. Create multiple columns and rows to most accurately display your class scatter plot.
Improved Axis Worksheet Labels
It really is the most flexible package out there. I tell people if you can visualize a plot, you can make it with Grapher. Eric Tappa, University of South Carolina, USA
Limit tick marks worksheet labels to specific worksheet rows.
Edit Individual Objects in a Combined Object
The ability to edit and change those elements without having to break apart the elements is a GREAT feature. Sharon Van Dyke, Surtek Inc., USA
Change all properties of items that are combined without ungrouping the combined object.
