Introducing.Oiler!

Golden Software products can be used to model almost any type of data, from the movement of migratory fish to the results of delicate lab tests. Our products are used extensively in the oil and gas industry, whether Surfer is used to create contour maps to display data recovered from wells, Strater is used to show information down the borehole, or Voxler is used to visualize the well data in 3D! No longer is Golden Software restricted to data visualization software. Now, we have a product specifically for the oil and gas industry! Oiler!

Our programming team has been working around the clock, deprived of food and sleep, to bring you what you've been asking for! Oiler, a secret product in the works since Golden Software was founded in the 1980s, will revolutionize and streamline the petroleum industry. Our programmers and analysts have been working closely with geologists, researchers, and other nerds to produce an extensive database of petroleum information, called OILFIELD. Oiler uses this database along with complex photo analysis algorithms that would make Donald Knuth proud to analyze your aerial photos.

Displaying Medical Imagery in Voxler 3

Though many users of Golden Software products display data used in geology, oil and gas, and other geoscience-based industries, many other types of data can be modelled in our software! This week, I'll show you an example by displaying MRI and CT scan imagery in Voxler. I'll be using data in the form of DICOM files and Voxler VDAT files. Please note that DICOM is a container format, so the data may be formatted differently in different DICOM files. This means it is possible that some files may be formatted in a manner that Voxler cannot understand.

Happy St. Paddy's Day from Golden Software!

Today, March 17, much of the world will be going green to celebrate St. Patrick’s day! March 17 marks the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick, who is credited with spreading Christianity to Ireland. Though St. Patrick was not Irish, the holiday named in his honor is now synonymous with Irish culture, or at least Irish food and drink! Here in the United States, we’ll eat corned beef and cabbage, drink Irish beer, and wear green shamrocks with hopes of securing a bit of that luck o’ the Irish! In honor of St. Paddy, I’ve created a map showing where the most Americans live that identify as Irish American, and I’ve compiled some fun facts about the holiday and traditions surrounding it!

Where Irish Americans live; 33.3 million Americans (about 10.5%) identify as Irish American. Click on the map to open a larger image.

An Antarctic Adventure!

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Golden Software President Pat Madison to talk about his exciting trip to Antarctica! Pat's 5-day excursion with his wife and friends began on January 29, 2015 in Ushuaia, Argentina. Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, deemed the "Land of Fire" by explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Ushuaia is widely regarded as the southernmost city in the world.

From Ushuaia, Pat's ship made an overnight journey to his first stop, the Falkland Islands. Ushuaia was the only location on the trip that had docks, so when the ship neared the Falkland Islands, Pat and his crew hopped in zodiac boats and zipped over to the islands where they spent a windy afternoon exploring. They had the opportunity to see sheep, penguins, seals, and albatross while visiting the Falkland Islands. Pat was fascinated by the albatross, who need the wind in order to fly due to their narrow wings.

Golden Software Celebrates 32 Years in Business with a 32% Discount!

Golden Software is excited to celebrate 32 years in business this March!

It all started in 1983 when Colorado School of Mines computer science instructor Pat Madison and mining graduate student Dan Smith developed Golden Software's first product, PlotCall, which transformed plotter instructions into dot-matrix instructions. PlotCall opened the doors of computer graphing and mapping to many users who did not have access to more expensive hardware, such as mainframe computers and plotter printers. That was only the beginning! Today, Golden Software develops, sells, and supports six data visualization software applications, Surfer, Grapher, Voxler, Strater, Didger, and MapViewer! Our products are used worldwide in a variety of industries.
