A. Installing Didger
Installing Didger 5 requires that you be logged into an account that has Administrator rights. Golden Software does not recommend installing Didger 5 over any previous version of Didger. Please ensure that you install Didger 5 into a new directory, which is what will happen by default. Didger 5 can co-exist with older versions as long as they are in different directories.

To begin the installation, either insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, or double-click on the downloaded EXE file to run it. See below for details of each method.

If the Setup program does not automatically start, double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Open the CD-ROM drive which contains the Didger disk by double-clicking on the CD-ROM icon. From the CD-ROM folder find and double-click on Autorun.exe to launch Didger's Setup program. Select "Install Didger" and setup will begin.

Installing Didger on a Local Drive Using a Downloaded EXE:

1. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and navigate to the folder containing the downloaded file.
2. Double-click on the file Didger.exe to begin the installation process. The EXE extension is not displayed if you have enabled the option to "Hide Extensions for Known File Types" in My Computer.

Windows 7
To uninstall Didger, go to the Control Panel and click the Uninstall a program link. Select “Didger 5” (or “Didger Demo 5” for the demo version) from the list of installed applications. Click the Uninstall button to uninstall Didger.

Q7. Should I uninstall the demo version before installing the full version, or can I activate the demo to become the full version?
A. You do need to uninstall the Didger demo before installing the full version of Didger. There is not a way to “activate” the demo version to become a full version.

Q8. Do I need to uninstall an older version of Didger before installing a new version?
A.
You do not need to uninstall previous versions of Didger (i.e. Didger versions 3 or 4) before installing Didger 5, provided you install them in different directories. By default, this will be the case.

However,You do not need to uninstall a previous version of Didger 5 before installing an updated version of Didger 5, as the installation package will automatically do this for you.

Q7. Do you offer training?
A. Golden Software will occasionally offer live training courses. Visit our Training Classes page to view scheduled classes.

Golden Software does offer a variety of Free Training Resources. Please use the following links to learn more about Didger.

Q10. Where can I find my serial number?
A.
The serial number is located on the CD sleeve, or in the download instructions you received when you ordered the software. Please register online at our website. After you install Didger and run it for the first time, you can also find your serial number by opening the software and going to Help | About Didger. The About Didger dialog box will show the serial number.

Q11. Is technical support free?
A. Yes, Technical Support is free to all users for as long as you own the product. You must register your product in order to receive technical support. You can reach technical support by phone, fax, or email by visiting our Contact Us page.

Q12. Is Didger 5 capable of running on Windows XP/Vista/7 64-bit?
A. Yes, Didger 5 comes as a 32-bit application and as a 64-bit application. Both can be installed and run on Windows 64-bit.

Q13. Should I install Didger 32-bit or Didger 64-bit?
A. If you are using a 32-bit version of Windows, then Didger 5 32-bit is installed automatically.

If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, then Didger 5 64-bit will be installed automatically. There is an option to install the 32-bit version instead, but we recommend installing the 64-bit version of Didger 5. Although Didger 32-bit is capable of installing and running on Windows 64-bit, the 32-bit version of Didger 5 does not take advantage of the increased 64-bit memory space.

Q14. What is the PJT file compatibility between different versions of Didger?
A. Didger 5 can open PJT files that were saved in Didger 4 only. If PJT files were saved in previous versions, they will need to be saved in Didger 4 prior to be supported in Didger 5. Didger 5 can only save PJT files in the Didger 5 format. Previous versions of Didger (i.e. Didger 4 or Didger 3) cannot open the Didger 5 PJT files.

Q15. What are the terms of the Golden Software End User License Agreement?
A. The full details of the End User License Agreement (EULA) may be found at http://www.goldensoftware.com/home/terms-of-use. The salient points of the EULA are as follows:

  • All Golden Software licenses are single user licenses, where a user is a person and not a machine.
  • Licenses may not be shared among multiple users.
  • Network installation is allowed, as long as a separate license is purchased for each individual user who will access the network install. For instance, if 4 different users plan to access the software, 4 individual licenses must be purchased.
  • Software may only be used on one computer at any time.
  • Software may be installed on multiple computers (i.e. home, office desktop, and field laptop), as long as only the licensed user accesses the software on any of the computers.
  • One (1) copy of the software and one (1) copy of the user documentation maybe be made for backup purposes only.
  • License may be transferred to another user by the registered user contacting the Golden Software sales department.
  • After a license is transferred to another user, the original user must uninstall the software from all machines they had it installed on. Any copies on original user’s hard-disk drive(s) or back-up media must also be destroyed.
  • After a license is upgraded to a newer version, the older software must be uninstalled. Any older version CDs, serial numbers, or backup copies on hard-disk drive(s) or back-up media must be destroyed within sixty (60) days of the upgrade.

Q16. I have a more technical question about the program, where can I find the answer?
A. For more technical questions and answers, please visit our Knowledge Base.
